DMX-PSU and Powerline Dimming System

The DMX-PSU connects to the mains supply by an IEC cable. An IEC outlet on each PSU enables multiple PSUs to be linked.

  • The DMX-PSU has two XLR outlet sockets enabling two separate daisychains, with a total of up to 17 lights, to be plugged into one PSU.  Each PSU has its own DMX address, so all stands connected to a given PSU are dimmed together.
  • An XLR Daisychaining box locks to the base of each stand and connects one stand to the next in a daisychain.  Each XLR Daisychaining box comes complete with 2m of integral cable.
  • Powerline control is achieved when the daisychain is connected using the DMX-PSU and linked to a lighting desk.
  • Lights can also have radio control. If fitted, radio control takes priority over Powerline control.  Radio control can be operated by the RAT Radio System which can also be connected to the lighting desk.
  • Alternatively, the Mains PSU can be used which gives power to up to 17 lights but cannot be controlled using DMX.

Wireless Radio Control

The flexibility of our RAT Radio Transmitter and Radio Controlled Light enables each music stand light to be controlled as though it were hard wired to the lighting desk, but without the cables.

The RAT Radio Transmitter can be powered by its own built in battery or from a supplied mains adapter.
The transmitter has two operating modes: Local and DMX Control.  Local mode is ideal for use where there is no lighting desk available as all DMX channels are controlled locally from the transmitter.  DMX control requires a DMX input signal which is broadcast in its entirety.
A range of frequencies are available to avoid interference with other radio controlled equipment and there is no limit to the number of devices that can be controlled from a single transmitter.
Each light can be given its own unique address or can share its address with any number of stands in a group.

Rechargeable Batteries

24V lights can be powered by batteries instead of wired power supplies.

High capacity Li-ion batteries can power a Trio Light at full brightness for over 11 hours; if the brightness is turned down almost imperceptibly the time between charges can be increased to 24 hours.
Li-ion batteries are lighter and more compact than NiCad and NiMh, and do not suffer from memory effect.
Batteries can be recharged using the single fast charger, or the charging station which charges up to 10 batteries simultaneously.
Batteries are recharged in about half the time for which they have been used.
Ideal for use with radio control giving independent control of every light.
Batteries incorporate a state of charge indicator.
