Clip-on version of successful LEDlight

R.A.T. Music Stands, world recognized leading edge designer and manufacturer of professional music stands and lights has announced the availability of a universal clip-on version of its technologically advanced "LEDLight". This is in response to the rapidly increasing demand for better lighting by musicians, both individuals and organizations, who are unhappy with traditional incandescent lights and want to keep their current music stand.

At the heart of the "LEDClip" light are 6 high-powered LED's, which provide a very bright warm white light over the entire score, with very little "spillage". Light produced by the LEDClip is virtually color-free and provides for optimum readability of scores without the need for high power and resulting heat produced by incandescent lamps. There are no bulbs to change and the LEDs are extremely robust and have an extremely long life expectancy. The range of ClipLights is fitted with a powerful spring clip that enables them to fit almost any make of stand. A unique design feature enables the clip to grip firmly on any thickness of tray, and yet be moved simply by squeezing the clip.

A very slim lamp, the LEDClip has a specially designed housing and reflector system to both allow the musician an uninterrupted view of the conductor as well as maximizing light on the score while greatly reducing light radiated to other musicians nearby. The LEDClip light can be powered by a non-dimmable outlet plug power supply or is available with a dimmable power supply. It is constructed of highly durable but lightweight aluminum and is very portable and well suited for travel. A double-width version is also available for conductors and use with pianos.

Optional rugged travel cases for 20 LEDClip lamps are also available.

World Famous RAT Music "Opera" Stand Debuts New LED Lighting At Millennium Centre

RAT Music Stands Ltd. announced that it has developed a version of the Opera stand fitted with a LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting system. The Opera LEDlight is the slimmest, brightest, most long lasting music stand light ever. The light features 6 high-powered LED's in a slim housing to give a bright, warm white light over the entire musical score. The LED's are extremely robust and have a life expectancy equal to that of the stand as a whole.

Among the options offered with the new Opera LEDlight are an IEC daisy chaining system with dimming capability, and rechargeable battery power with radio control. "This represents a technical quantum jump for our company and maintains our position as the leading music stand supplier to the world's most prestigious music venues and professionals" said Andrew Michell, Managing Director of RAT Music Stands Ltd.

The Opera LEDlight will have its debut at the Wales Millennium Centre on Cardiff Bay (U.K.) waterfront, which is the most exciting cultural initiative happening in Europe today. Not only will it be an international receiving house for opera, ballet, dance and musicals, it will also house seven diverse and exciting cultural organizations under one-roof. RAT Music Stands is proud to announce that its Opera stands with LEDlights will be part of this world class venue at its opening at the end of November.

About the Opera Stand

The Opera stand is the ultimate music stand system with lighting and accessories to fulfill every need. Their striking appearance, construction, functionality and ruggedness set them apart from traditional music stands. The Opera stand starts with two styles of platforms or trays. One is constructed of nylon coated welded steel rods and the other is formed of natural birch, stained and lacquered to a beech, ash or hardwood finish. The design of the Opera stands family incorporates features that are particularly important for the individual performers, orchestras and venues that want to look and play their musical best.

Individual user features and benefits of the Opera stand include lamps that can be rotated and adjusted both front and back. The stands have constant friction joints that keep tray and lamp in place and an easy to use large height adjustment knob. The joint and knob provides secure adjustment for the heaviest of scores. The Opera has rubber feet to prevent clatter if it is knocked and to ensure three-point contact on uneven floors. Other individual options are pencil trays, instrument shelves and microphone booms. Special purpose versions include a conductor's stand.

RAT Music Stands Ltd announces the introduction of a new range of Conductor's stands

RAT Music Stands Ltd announces the introduction of a new range of Conductor's stands. They combine unique professional designs with a range of tray materials and styles to meet the needs of the most demanding maestros, orchestras and music venues.

The premier product in the line is the Grand Opera Conductor's stand. It is designed for semi-permanent installation in the orchestra pit of large opera houses and similar facilities. The stand has an adjustable tray width, low profile base with adjustable feet and wheels and features three tungsten halogen lamps that surround the tray. The lamps are adjustable for height, reach and angle. The height of the Grand Opera stand is also electrically adjustable with digital readout of height and two memory pre-sets. The adjustable tray width and very slim lamps enable any size of score to be accommodated without undue obstruction of the view. The extra lights at the sides of the tray give even and very bright illumination of the score, and sufficient light is reflected off the score to illuminate the maestro as well. Electric height adjustment puts control at the maestro's fingertips. A matching electrically height- adjustable conductor rostrum is also available.

For surroundings with more avant-garde styling there is the Opera Conductor's stand. The tray is formed of black nylon coated steel rods. This striking look is similar to the company's famous Opera stand. The Opera conductor's stand has a tray large enough for the biggest opera score. Its elegant, minimalist design and very slim lamp ensure that the musicians get the best possible view of the conductor. The lamp can be folded under the tray if not required. And its powerful light is carefully controlled to avoid dazzling the audience.

The Concert Conductor's stand is ideal for performances in lit venues, using all but the largest scores. Its design matches that of the Concert stand. Ideal for venues with wood accented surroundings, the tray is formed in one piece from natural birch wood, stained and lacquered to beech. A two halogen bulb clip-on lamp, the RATstands Twin HaloLight, is available as an accessory.

New Innovation In Universal Music Stand lights
Better Quality Light for Musicians

What musician would not want a better music stand light? White halogen has been found to be best for readability of old and new scores. The new HaloLight series of stand lamps introduces special halogen bulbs for the best light available. HaloLights are now available with all RAT music stands, and the universal clip-on model "HaloClip" also fits other manufacturers' stands.

HaloClip clamps neatly and rigidly to the top of the music stand tray and ensures positive locking with many types of music stand tray. The small tungsten halogen bulbs enables a very slim housing which allows the musician the best possible view of the conductor. The precision formed reflectors produce superior illumination over the whole score without "light lines", and with minimum spillage. Two versions of the lamp are available - one with a single mains voltage bulb and the Twin HaloClip with a double low voltage bulb. The low voltage bulbs produce an even whiter and better controlled light, less heat and longer life compared to mains voltage bulbs. The new lamp is supplied with flexible 7ft. power cord with built in switch.

Walt Disney Concert Hall Outfitted With RATstands

RAT Music Stands is pleased to announce that it’s products are part of yet another world famous musical venue.

With resounding success, the Los Angeles Philharmonic last month opened its fantabulous new home, the Walt Disney Concert Hall. All the components came together: Frank Gehry's flamboyant, photogenic architecture; Yasuhisa Toyota's clear, intimate acoustics; Esa-Pekka Salonen's propulsive and vital conducting. In look, sound, music and style, it came as one smart package. Each facet enhanced the others.

Included were music stands designed by RAT (Music Stands) Ltd. of London England. A special, but now standard, wood tray version of the company’s Concert stand complemented the artfully decorated wood surroundings. RATstands, whose design sets them apart from conventional metal stands, are quite distinctive, even from the rear. Their “floating tray” support arms and finely polished columns add to the musical atmosphere-but “they are functionally designed to meet the critical demands of critical musicians” said Andrew Michell - R.A.T.’s Managing Director.

Larger pictures of the Concert stand at Disney Hall can be seen by clicking on the colour photographs to the right.

Based in London, England, and with North American offices in Atlanta, GA, RAT Music Stands Ltd. is the world’s leading designer and producer of professional music stands and related products. RATstand’s designs are the result of over twenty-five years of collaboration with musicians, musical directors and music venues around the world. RATstands…..Where Music Matters

London, UK & Atlanta, GA – July 1, 2003
RAT Music Stands Ltd. announced the introduction of a family of innovative professional folding music stands called Jazz. Jazz stands represent the first time that the benefits of the two types of traditional stands, full size fixed and folding, have been combined together.

The new product is designed for orchestras, music groups and individual performers. Jazz is a professional quality stand with the versatility of being highly portable, for both indoor and outdoor events. Jazz stands represent several decades of experience in music stand development. The product is both eye-catching and yet friendly to the most discriminating performer. It has no knobs, no finger traps and eliminates the hassle of opening it up.

Jazz stands offer a full range of height adjustment from under 40 cm (15 in) to 120 cm (47 in). The stand has similar stability to a fixed-stand and a full size music tray with pencil shelf. As a result of their unique and patented design, they fold in three moves to a flat pack no larger than the size of the tray (51 x 38 cm or (20 x 15in.) and 5cm (1.97 in) thick. The aluminum alloy legs and stem, and high impact polymer tray make the Jazz stand light in weight (3.1 Kg or 6.8 lbs.) yet extremely sturdy.

The Jazz stand’s design utilizes a patented friction joint adjustment system. This system enables Jazz to raise high enough for the tallest standing trumpeter, yet drop low enough for the youngest cellist, without adjusting a single screw. A variant of Jazz is also available in which the base is reversed to enable the stand to be placed very close of the chair of the player in front. This version is designed to cater to orchestras with very tight space restrictions. Once folded the Jazz stand is easily inserted into an optional gig-bag, stacked on top of other Jazz stands, or put in a custom made flight case.
Other Jazz stand options include availability in anodized colors (blue, green, red, pink and soft gold - all with a black tray) and a range of lights specifically developed for the stand. Selling prices range from about $95.00 for the basic model to about $110.00 for the colored versions. This makes them an attractive investment for music organizations seeking a high quality professional product with a useful life several times that of lower quality portable designs.

London, UK & Atlanta, GA – May 1, 2003
RAT Music Stands Ltd., announces the introduction of a new family of music stands, the Concert Series. Concert stands combine a unique professional design with a range of tray materials and styles to blend in with both modern and historic concert hall, churches and other venue decor.

Concert stands offer a choice of wood or stylish metal tray. For venues with wood accented surroundings, the tray is formed in one piece from natural birch wood, stained and lacquered to beech or other hardwoods, and complimented by a slender metal base. The tray is available with an addition padded shelf for pencils and rubbers. A Concert Conductor’s stand featuring the same wood tray construction adds to the total wood look.

For surroundings with more avant-garde styling, the tray is formed of black nylon coated steel rods. This striking look is similar to the company’s famous Opera stand. This tray can also be fitted with a sturdy non-movable pencil shelf.

Concert stands offer a full range of height adjustment from 680 mm (27 in) to 1370 mm (54 in). Tray size is 500 mm (19.5 in) by 330 mm (13 in). The Concert Conductor version is 860 mm (34 in) wide. A friction lock holds the tray at set height and its stem cannot be over extendedThe trayautomatically stays at the set angle due to constant friction provided by powerful springs in the friction joint. Both models offer an optional independently height adjustable mensola per utensili.

The base of all Concert stands is made of tubular steel for strength and rigidity without excess weight. Rubber feet prevent clatter if the stand is knocked and 3-point contact provides stability on uneven floors. The design of the feet enables stands to be stacked on the floor or shelves to minimize storage space. Fifty (50) Concert stands can be stacked in a space less than 3.5 m (11.5 ft,) by 0.5 m (1.6 ft).
