For the past 50 years, RATstands products have supported musicians everywhere from orchestra pits and theatres to rehearsal rooms and recording studios. As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we wanted to reimagine some of our most recognisable products with a more modern aesthetic, bringing traditional professional equipment into contemporary home studios and creative spaces. We’re excited to introduce our special anniversary collection: the Home Studio Edition.
At the heart of the collection is the new Opera Stand – Home Studio Edition. Originally introduced in 1976, the Opera Stand was designed for the unique challenges of the orchestra pit and has remained a trusted favourite among musicians, orchestras, and recording studios for decades.
For this special anniversary edition, we’ve carefully adapted the stand for contemporary studio environments while keeping the features that made it a professional standard in the first place. Finished in an elegant champagne gold, the Home Studio Edition brings a lighter, more modern feel compared to the traditional black finish typically associated with orchestral equipment.
The stand still features its signature acoustically neutral wire tray, designed to minimise sound reflection in recording and performance settings, along with the distinctive off-centre stem and L-shaped base that allow musicians to work closer to the stand while making the most of their space.
Alongside the stand, we’re also introducing the Opera Chair – Home Studio Edition, designed to create a cohesive and inspiring studio setup. Moving away from the look of traditional orchestral seating, the chair features a champagne gold frame with light upholstery, helping it feel at home in modern interiors, creative studios, and multi-purpose workspaces.
Comfort and ergonomic support remain central to the design, just as they are with all RATstands musician’s chairs. Whether you’re practising, composing, recording, or producing, the chair is built to support long creative sessions while allowing the freedom of movement musicians need.
Like every RATstands product, both pieces are proudly made in the UK and reflect our ongoing commitment to thoughtful engineering, craftsmanship, and long-lasting professional performance.
This is not a reinvention, but a continuation of designing equipment that supports performance and production wherever it takes place.
