Rachel Lopez
Rachel Lopez is a young flutist born in the province of Cienfuegos, Cuba. She began her formal music education at the Elementary School of Music Alejandro Garcia Caturla in Cuba at the age of twelve. In 2010, she graduated from the Music Conservatory Amadeo Roldan where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Arts along with distinguished recognitions
In 2013, Rachel moved to the United States and broadened her musical scope to include, not only Classical music, but also popular genres such as Latin jazz, Traditional Cuban music and folklore. She has received diverse recognitions such as “Rudy Regalado Foundation” for her outstanding participation in the Latin music community and has been awarded with scholarships from the Latin Grammy Foundation in 2016 and 2017.
Aside from performing, Rachel is also a music teacher who has been involved in various educational works, including Caesura Youth Orchestra, a non-profit organization that strives to give underprivileged children a better life through the learning of music and for which she has been a part of since 2015.
Simultaneously, Rachel is musically active doing studio recordings, TV shows, musicals, tours throughout the United States, and performances in popular clubs. In 2020, she earned her Master’s of Arts in Teaching as she continues to prepare herself to become a certificated music educator.
