The RATstands Cellist Chair offers the ergonomic support and flexibility needed for the specific requirements of cellists and their playing position.
The chair’s leg height and seat angle can be adjusted independently, allowing each cellist to find their optimum seating position and adjust the overall angle of the chair to suit their playing posture. This provides the flexibility needed to support the forward-leaning position of a cellist while maintaining comfort and stability during extended rehearsals and performances.
The chair has been expertly designed to provide enhanced support and comfort for musicians. Its narrow back provides support where it is needed without restricting the arms, shoulders, or rib cage. The backrest is deliberately fixed in position, with its lower curve positioned to support the lumbar region and encourage the musician to sit fully back in the chair, helping to maintain the natural curve of the lower spine and promote good posture.
Although the backrest is fixed, adjusting the leg height and seat angle allows the overall sitting angle to be changed to accommodate the cellist’s playing position. The horizontal seat profile, with its rounded and downturned edges, allows the musician to position themselves naturally and keep their feet flat on the floor, helping to promote good circulation and long-term comfort.
The chair is also designed around the way musicians actually sit and play.
