The Opera Chair is available in 3 styles – non-adjustable, seat adjustable, and seat and leg adjustable – providing different levels of adjustment to suit different requirements.
All three chairs have been expertly designed to offer enhanced support and comfort, specifically for musicians. The chair’s narrow back provides support where it is needed without hindering the musician’s arms, shoulders, and rib cage. The seat and back profiles are carefully designed to provide an optimum seating position for musicians.
The backrest is deliberately fixed rather than height adjustable. It has been ergonomically designed based on research into seated posture and the importance of supporting the lumbar region to help maintain the natural curve of the lower spine. The curve at the bottom of the backrest is positioned to encourage the musician to sit fully back in the chair, supporting the lower back and promoting good posture. With an adjustable backrest, users can tend to position the support higher up the back, rather than where the lumbar support is intended to sit.
Although the backrest is fixed, adjustable versions of the Opera Chair can still accommodate different playing positions by adjusting the leg height and seat angle. This allows the overall angle of the chair to be altered to suit the musician, from a more upright seated position to a more forward-leaning playing posture.
The horizontal seat profile, with its rounded and downturned front edge, enables the musician to keep their feet flat on the floor, promoting improved circulation and long-term comfort. The rounded and downturned seat edges also allow musicians to position themselves naturally on the chair. Many musicians need to sit towards the side of the chair depending on their instrument and playing posture, so the design allows greater freedom of movement around the seat without the chair getting in the way.
The Chairs have been designed to meet the needs and sitting positions of different instrumental musicians, such as cellists, pianists, and harpists. Adjustable legs also enable the chair to stand level on uneven flooring and even raked stages.
High-quality foam provides firm but comfortable support for hours on end. The seat and backrest are manufactured from firm foam and upholstered with high quality, breathable, and flame-retardant fabric.

The top-grade steel frame is coated with a black anti-scratch powder coat for maximum durability and a sleek finish. Our standard charcoal fabric is sophisticated and minimal, while a range of upholstery colours is available for a custom look.
Unlike other orchestra chairs, the Opera Chairs can be vertically stacked for compact storage. The vertical stacking design allows chairs to be stored efficiently, while adjustable and non-adjustable models can be mixed in the same stack. The Opera Chair Trolley (301Q80) and Dolly (301Q81) are available to purchase separately for easy storage and transport. The chairs can easily be manoeuvred by a single person.
